Windows 7 doesn’t actually launch until October 22, but it actually was finished in July. Some people, namely CSUCI computer science students, have been able to get the pre-release “RTM” version, which is what the retail version will be. It’s more or less spot-on. On the whole, it’s everything Vista promised us, with none of what Vista gave us instead.
