One of the most beneficial reasons for eating a diet that is rich in raw fruits and vegetables is that they contain a vast amount of enzymes.
Why is it that whenever the weather starts to get colder, the craving for “comfort food,” always seems to intensify? “Comfort foods” are the classic food items that many families like to eat during the holidays.
I am so ecstatic with the Islands Café menu this week! It is full of lots of healthy choices, that I’m thrilled to give my input about. Before I start my weekly tips, I first want to let all of you know that it’s more than ok to splurge once in a while. In my opinion, it’s pretty impossible to stay 100% on the healthy food band wagon 24/7.
This week got off to a great start for me. I met up with Serge this morning in the Islands Café and was blown away by all the information he shared with me. I originally approached him about the limited bread selection that the Café offered, and then as the conversation continued I found myself completely infatuated and just couldn’t stop asking him questions! All the information and statistics that Serge shared with me was extremely eye opening.
So last Monday, after finishing my first article, I decided that before jumping into picking apart the Islands Café, the right thing to do would be to introduce myself to the Executive Chef at CSUCI and let him know what my intentions are as well as get to know him and hopefully work together as a team to help make on campus eating more healthy for students. I had the pleasure of meeting Serge Joubert Michel who is the Operations Manager of Sodexo Education which is the company that runs the Islands Café as well as several other school cafeterias. Serge and I got along great and agreed with all of my suggestions and my passion
