Radiohead
Since a major earthquake hit Haiti, celebrities and the general population alike have been scrambling to raise money to help those in need.
British band Radiohead did their part and raised an astounding amount of money from a small venue show.
Preforming at the Henry Fonda Theatre, which seats a mere 1,300, they were able to raise over $572,700 for Oxfam International, an organization that aids struggling developing countries.
Tickets to the exclusive event were auctioned off online in pairs, the priciest tickets sold for $4,000 a pair and the lowest at $475.
It is clear that people who wanted to attend weren’t just prompted by seeing the band, but by the opportunity to show their generosity for the survivors of the earthquake.
Limited edition posters were also selling at the event for $25 each, and volunteers from Oxfam International were there to collect any other donations.
Radiohead played a 24 song set, including a new song, Lotus Flower, along with a compilation from all of their albums.
Among the general public attendees were also celebrity A-listers Charlize Theron, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Anna Paquin and Daniel Craig, all of whom are massive self proclaimed Radiohead fans.
The one night event was definitely another step forward to continuously spreading awareness of the tragedy and to show the public there is still much to be done.
