Alexis Krasnoff, a senior studio arts major, focuses her work on narrative driven character art. Encouraged by her creative parents at a young age, she has continued developing her artistic practice throughout her life.
She describes her style as “very character and narrative focused, with inspiration from my sense of humor and all the nerd stuff I’m into.”
Krasnoff works across a variety of artistic mediums. “I’m mainly a digital artist. I love using Blender for 3D art and Procreate for 2D,” she said. Outside of digital art, she also explores pottery, crochet, 3D printing, rug tufting, jewelry making and game modding.
Some of Krasnoff’s artistic influences include Brian Froud, Frank Frazetta, James Gurney and J.C. Leyendecker. “I love fantasy art, and I’m a big nerd, so I get a lot of inspiration from the card art for Magic: The Gathering!” she exclaimed.
Graduating this semester, Krasnoff has spent most of her time working on her capstone. “Right now I’m focused on my capstone, which is a book of animal-themed items and characters for DnD (Dungeons and Dragons), which I’m using to support a local dog rescue by designing characters based on adoptable/fosterable dogs in their program,” she added.
In the future, Krasnoff plans to work as a Graphic Designer or Character Artist. “Right now I’m currently working for the admissions department at CSUCI as a graphic designer and doing a lot of freelance projects,” she exclaimed.
To Krasnoff, art is “A practical way that I can translate my ideas and stories into something tangible and cool that can connect with other people in a way that a lot of other mediums of expression can’t!” Being a fan of frogs, she also tries to involve one in her artwork wherever possible.
