It is now the season for Associated Students Inc. elections! These elections decide the students who get to represent our CI community and help shape the future of our programs and student life for the 2026-2027 school year.
Who runs the ASI Elections?
The ASI Elections Council is responsible for organizing and implementing that the election process is fair and equitable. They must adhere to the ASI Election Code as well as oversee complaints of alleged violations of the ASI Election Code during the election period. The Council consists of ASI Board members but may also include ASI entity members and one non-voting CI or ASI staff member who will provide procedural support and guidance.
What is The ASI Board of Directors?
The Board works in coordination with several ASI entities, including Student Government, the Student Programming Board, the Student Union, and The CI View – student news. Together, these groups create events, advocate for student needs, and maintain spaces that serve the campus community.
What is Student Government?
ASI Student Government is the voice of the students as they represent and advocate on behalf of the CI student body to all persons and organizations within and outside the campus community. ASI Student Government takes official stances on significant issues that affect the student body, including campus-based, CSU system-wide and legislative issues.
Officers of ASI Student Government attend Senate meetings, which are held each Wednesday of the academic year from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Student Union Coville Conference Room.
Where and how to Vote in the ASI Elections
Want to take part in this year’s ASI Elections? The ballot includes candidates for the ASI Board of Directors and candidates running for ASI Student Government. All CI students who have paid the Associated Student Fee in the spring semester, prior to voting, are eligible to vote in this year’s election. If you are unsure if you paid this fee, you can find the fee information under student fees on CI’s website. Students who have not paid the Associated Student Fee will not be allowed to opt in by paying the fee now. Students are only allowed to vote once with proper identification.
According to the ASI Election Code, a candidate must receive votes from at least 10% of the total number of students who cast votes in the current ASI election to be deemed the winner of any position.
There are two ways students can participate in this year’s vote: in-person or online. Voting will open on April 14, at 8:00 a.m. and close on April 15, at 5:00 p.m.

How to vote in-person
In-person voting will be held at the Student Union Building Dolphin deck from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 14 and 15.
How to vote online
According to Annie Block-Weiss, ASI Assistant Director for Leadership & Involvement and Advisor to the ASI Elections Council, Ballots will be available through students’ myCI portals under the CISync tab. While the ASI Elections council would appreciate thoughtful votes for each position, students are free to skip voting for any position they choose. The ballot will list each position along with a brief description and the candidates. Each candidate will have a small blue dot next to their name that voters can click in order to learn more about the candidate directly from the ballot.
How will votes be counted?
According to Block-Weiss, The CI Sync elections portal automatically keeps track of vote counts and percentages. Once voting closes, the ASI Elections Council will meet to verify the results. The final results will be posted on ASI’s Instagram and the ASI website. The results are typically available quickly, on the same day that voting ends by around 6 p.m.
What will happen now that there are no candidates for Student Government President?
As of recent news Presidential candidate Adrian Clark dropped out of the Student Government Election to pursue another opportunity. This means that there will be no president to vote for on the ballot. This has never occurred in the last ten years; the next steps are not yet known. The CI View will update the student body as soon as new information is available.
