On Sep. 7, the grand opening of Daiso near the Oxnard Auto Center is finally here! Oxnard is about to welcome an exciting new addition to its shopping scene as the popular Japanese dollar store opens its doors. This grand opening is not only a great moment for the Oxnard community but also for CI students who now have a new budget-friendly store just a short drive from campus.
The arrival of Daiso in Oxnard is perfectly timed for the start of the academic year offering CI students an affordable and convenient option for their shopping needs. Whether you are looking to stock up on school supplies, decorate your dorm, or look for some retail therapy Daiso has something for everyone. “There’s nothing more expensive than $16,” said store manager, Karina Zuniga, highlighting the focus of the store on value while offering a wide range of items from stationery to snacks. For CI students, the arrival of Daiso is a welcome addition, providing budget-friendly options for school supplies, dorm décor and snacks. “We have a lot of stationery, like notebooks and pens, all at great prices,” Zuniga shared, making it a perfect stop for students.
One of the store’s unique aspects is its pricing system, which has surprised some customers. “I think that’s just something customers are not used to,” Zuniga noted. “The pricing is in yen because the products are shipped from Japan, but we have price conversion charts to help them understand.” Zuniga added that some domestic items are priced in U.S. dollars, which makes things clearer.
Zuniga is eager for Daiso to become a staple in the Oxnard community. “We’ve already had so many people tell us they’re thrilled to have us here,” Zuniga said. “It’s great to see people excited about our store—they don’t have to drive all the way to LA anymore.” Zuniga added that her hope for customers is, “I just want customers to have a good experience and then I just hope that they tell their friends and their family that we’re here and we become a household name.”
With its wide variety and fun finds, Daiso’s new Oxnard location is set to become a go-to destination for CI students looking for affordable stationary and household essentials close to campus. “I just want customers to have a good experience and spread the word,” Zuniga added, as the store makes its mark on the local community.
