Looksmaxxing is a new term that has appeared in media in more recent times, but what is looksmaxxing? According to Medical NewsToday, “Looksmaxxing is an online trend that describes self-enhancement practices typically followed by young men. It involves a person changing their physical appearance to fit certain beauty standards.” There are different simple ways in which one can looksmaxx, such as updating their skincare routine and exercising more, both of which can help boost self-esteem.
In recent times the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has seen an uprising of mental health issues among men. Looksmaxing content is easily seen across social media and can easily be consumed by anyone. Research found by the National Library of Medicine suggests that about 46% of young people typically use the internet and social media for up to three hours or more.
An online streamer by the name of Clavicular has gained viewers over time for his looksmaxxing methods he has done. He promotes looksmaxxing content and shares with others some of the different methods he has used to attain his looks. Some of his methods have been labeled as extreme when it comes to looksmaxxing and attaining the “Chad” look. The Chad look describes the, “idealised, white, hypermasculine body” according to JBS.
One of Clavicular’s methods is called bone smashing, “a new online trend that claims to change facial bone structure by causing repeated trauma to certain areas of the face such as the cheeks, jawline, or chin.” according to Perfect B Aesthetic Medicine.
Another one of Clavicular’s extreme methods to stay lean is using meth. In a recent podcast interview with Jack Neel, Clavicular stated, “I use crystal meth. It’s a methamphetamine for — as a stimulant, and to leanmaxx, I’m pretty much using meth for hollow cheeks.” Clavicular is 20 years old but his looksmaxing journey started around the age of 14. He also uses steroids and fat dissolvers to alter his body. These types of methods are seen as more extreme versus simply going to the gym and following certain workout routines to achieve a physique.
The CI View does not condone self-harm or the use of methamphetamine or other illicit drugs.
