CI offers a variety of scenic and symbolic spots for photos. Whether you are looking for something iconic, peaceful or adventurous, here are a few campus and nearby locations to consider:
- Bell Tower: A CI classic, with its architecture and historic feel, this spot is a must for many graduates.
- Student Union: If you ever spent time here with friends after class, playing board games or relaxing in between classes, this can be a great place to take pictures with good memories (and who knows, maybe you will see Ekho nearby and can snap a selfie together!)
- The Fountain: A perfect place to sit that adds a peaceful, elegant vibe to any shot. It also showcases the Bell Tower in the background if you want to incorporate both.
- Library Steps: A great location to symbolize academic achievement and the countless hours of studying.
- CI Theater: For Performing Arts majors or students who have been active in productions or events, the CI Theater holds great visual and emotional value.
- Murals Around Campus: Vibrant and full of life, murals like the ones near Napa Hall and the Student Union Building add an artsy, creative flair to your photos—perfect for bold personalities and visual storytellers.
- The Well: Spooky but also iconic! Known for its mysterious vibe and gothic look, it is a bold and moody pick for graduates who want something different.
- Sports Fields/Courts: Whether you played on a team or just love the energy of athletics, take some shots on the soccer field, basketball court or outdoor gym area.
- CI Sign: Located near the entrance of campus off University Dr., this iconic sign is a great way to boldly mark where you graduated from.
- Mountain Trails: For the adventurous Dolphins, the scenic trails around campus offer breathtaking natural backdrops—perfect for nature lovers and hikers.
- Beaches Nearby Campus (like Point Mugu or Sycamore Cove): As a CI Dolphin, some ocean breeze and waves is a great option for sunset graduation pictures with just a short drive away.
- CI Boating Center: This location by the Channel Islands Harbor gives off relaxing coastal vibes and is ideal for shots with kayaks, boats and that dreamy sea breeze.
There are other special spots where you can consider going apart from campus such as your home, local parks, or favorite restaurants. These spots can also offer other memorable spaces that have been part of your academic journey that are unique to who you are!
Dress Smart (and Comfortable)
Under your gown, wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Whether it is a sharp outfit or relaxed but stylish shoes for walking between locations, your comfort will show through in your expressions and poses.
Accessorize with Intention
Bring your personality into the frame! Stoles, sashes, cords and cap decorations are a great way to tell your story. Do not be afraid to incorporate cultural items or props related to your major—books, cameras, instruments that are part of your professional career.
Bring Your Support System
Consider inviting loved ones to be part of the shoot. Friends, family, professors and even pets (if allowed) can make your grad pics more meaningful and fun.
Capture Candid Moments
