The Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) Election Council is a body responsible for overseeing and managing the election process for student government positions at CI. Its primary duties include organizing elections, ensuring adherence to the ASI Election Code and addressing any alleged violations during the election period.
The 2024–2025 ASI Elections Council includes:

This council ensures that the election process is conducted transparently and in accordance with ASI’s governing standards.
ASI Election Code
The ASI Election Code establishes the rules and guidelines for conducting elections within the Associated Students of CI. It governs the election process for key student government positions, including the President, Vice President, Senators and four student director roles on the ASI Board of Directors. The purpose of this code is to ensure a fair, transparent and impartial election process that maximizes participation from both candidates and electors.
It promotes wide election awareness and ensures that candidates adhere to the regulations throughout their term of office. Additionally, the code outlines eligibility requirements in accordance with the CSU Office of the Chancellor’s Coded Memorandum AA-2012-05, which sets the minimum qualifications for students holding major student government office positions.
What Can the ASI Election Code Enforce?
The ASI Election Code serves as a guide to ensure fairness throughout the election process and may be used to enforce actions such as prohibiting early campaigning, regulating social media activity and ensuring candidates follow proper election procedures.
On April 3, the ASI Elections Council held a hearing in response to complaints of a potential code violation. The violation involved presenting a campaign-related PowerPoint during a Housing meeting—an act of direct campaigning before the official campaign period, which violated Article VI, Section B(1) of the ASI Election Code. Quinn Hodge, ASI Presidential Candidate, stated that this was not her intention, claiming the PowerPoint said “The process of ‘potentially’ running for CSUCI student government president.” After reviewing the case, the Council unanimously voted to issue a written warning with sanctions to Hodge.
As a result, Hodge and the campaign team ceased all campaign activities until April 10. This included removing any distributed materials, halting all social media promotion and submitting campaign-related documents for review.
This case highlights how the ASI Election Code is used to uphold fairness, ensure equal opportunity among candidates and protect the integrity of student elections.
