Student Governmnet provides update

As the spring semester starts to reach the midway point, the Student Government body is in full swing and getting ready for events and acting as the representatives of CI.

In a statement from the President of Student Government, Atticus Reyes wrote, “We believe by working diligently, humbly, and selflessly we can build coalitions across all institutional barriers, empower the students of this campus, and bring forward the change that we have been waiting to see.

Reyes’s key focus this semester is promoting environmental sustainability on campus, strengthening the University’s

Basic Needs Initiatives and addressing the parking concerns on campus. Cls Basic Needs Initiatives include the Dolphin Pantry, Hot Meals Programs and Emergency Ho using.

Student Government is currently organizing a weeklong event at the end of April that will be focused on promoting environmental sustainability on campus.

In addition to the focuses on campus, Student Government is excited to attend the California Higher Education State Summit in Sacramento this March to advocate for CI students’ higher education needs. CI will be joining the other 22 CSU campuses from around the state for this conference.

Student Government wants the CI community to know that they are here to serve, represent and help all individuals. They strive every day to keep the interests of the student body close to advocacy and lay the foundation for both positive and effective change in the future.

Cis Student Government’s office is located on the second floor of the Student Union above the Lighthouse Cafe. They strive to improve the lives of CI students in all areas of their journey through higher education acting as their representative to the University, the CSU system, the state of California and the nation.
