Stumbling through the bustling campus of CI, I decided to explore the diversity center in the Bell Tower. It was there that I stumbled upon the extraordinary talent of Jesus Suarez. This 18-year-old student is incredibly skilled at crocheting, specializing in charming plushies. As a fellow CI student, I was truly impressed by the high-quality and affordable creations he offers.
About Jesus Suarez Jesus Suarez is, a first year, majoring in business at CI. Despite his busy academic schedule, he has developed a remarkable talent for crocheting. With a variety of adorable animal plushies on display, it’s hard to believe he’s only been crocheting for 10 months.

I had the opportunity to interview Jesus Suarez and learn more about his passion for crocheting.
Why Crocheting? When asked why he chose to crochet, Jesus explained, “I love the joy and appreciation I receive from my customers. It’s incredibly satisfying to create art that brings smiles to people’s faces.” His connection to his craft is evident in every stitch.
Jesus Suarez hails from Santa Paula, a city known for its agricultural industry. It is no surprise that his favorite subject to crochet is cows, a nod to his hometown’s heritage. His passion for crocheting began when he observed a family member’s skills and was inspired to try his hand at it.
The Art of Plushies Unlike many other crocheters, Jesus primarily focuses on creating plushies. He believes that plushies offer a unique combination of durability and sentimental value compared to clothing. With meticulous attention to detail, he ensures that each plush is crafted to perfection. Having purchased one of his plushies myself, I can attest to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
Jesus’s dedication to his craft is evident in his choice of materials and techniques. He carefully selects high-quality yarns and employs precise stitching methods to create plushies that are both visually appealing and durable.
Holiday Delights In addition to his regular collection of plushies, Jesus also offers seasonal items. For Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, he creates beautiful crocheted roses that are sure to delight loved ones.
